We see him cry at the start of the movie when hes trapped, but those tears feel very specifically weaponized, to garner compassion from Renfield. These are. Genuine upset that his Familiar for all these decades has forsaken him, betrayed him, chosen humanity over himself.
I do think part of his anger was a mask of pain, because he realized just how much he DOES value Renfield at his side (though that could just be me being delusional idc im happy being delulu)
